The objective was to supply and install floors that looked exceptional, performed reliably and contemplated the brands modern aesthetic. Karndean Knight Tile luxury vinyl flooring proved to be the ideal solution. Every successful luxury vinyl tile flooring project starts with meticulous preparation. Our skilled team carried out subfloor checks and installed a smoothing compound to ensure a flawless base for laying the Karndean. Working carefully around all other areas we ensured a seamless finish throughout the showrooms. Our client choose Grey Limed Oak, Lime Washed Oak, Pale Limed Oak & Washed Scandi products from the Knight Tile range to create the original and distinctive pattern that can be seen in all of their showrooms across the UK . Customer Bathroom Remodel Our customer’s previous bathroom offered ample storage and a large shower, but they were dreaming of a bright, modern, and low-maintenance shower room with easy accessibility. Accessible shower rooms are one of our specialties, so Rosie got to work designing the bathroom of their dreams. CAD Drawing 1 CAD Drawing 2 CAD Drawing 3 CAD Drawing 4 We began by removing the old bathroom suite, stripping the tiles from the walls, and clearing everything from the property. Next, we fully replastered the room and installed waterproof boarding around the walk-in shower area for added protection. This crucial step creates a perfectly smooth surface for new tiles, ensuring a polished, professional finish. The goal was to create a more accessible bathroom, so we installed a Merlyn Arysto wetroom panel and Keuco Reva grab bars for a safe, walk-in shower experience, along with a Merlyn low-level anti-slip shower tray to reduce trip hazards. A Villeroy & Boch O’Novo comfort-height WC with a soft-close seat was added for ease of use. Vanity Hall fitted furniture provides ample storage, elegantly complemented by a semi-recessed ceramic basin. For a clean and modern look, we used large Villeroy & Boch anti-slip tiles on the floor and walls—fewer grout lines mean easier maintenance. Keuco accessories, a Cifial fixed shower and mixer taps, Zehnder radiators, and a HiB illuminated mirror complete the space, achieving a sophisticated, high-end finish. New Flooring at Derby High School
New Flooring at Derby High School Derby High School recently added a new building on their grounds to accommodate a modern canteen and kitchen. AJ Floorcraft was thrilled to be selected to install the flooring for this exciting project. Polyflor Forest FX vinyl offers a modern, low-maintenance flooring solution, ideal for high-traffic school environments. We began by preparing the subfloor using F Ball Stopgap Fill and Prime, ensuring a suitable key to the floor. Next, we applied F Ball Stopgap 1200 Pro to create a perfectly smooth surface, ready to receive the vinyl. For most areas, we installed the vinyl with F Ball F44 adhesive. However, along the windowed walls, we opted for F Ball F48 Plus, which has higher heat resistance, making it more suitable for areas exposed to increased sunlight and temperature fluctuations. The vinyl was seamlessly laid up to the skirting for a sleek, clean finish, while the external entrances along the corridor were fitted with Heckmondwike Hippo entrance matting. The entire project, including the kitchen (not pictured), took about 5 weeks to complete. The finished result looks fantastic and is designed to serve Derby High School for many years to come. Customer New Karndean Flooring Karndean Van Gogh Auckland Oak Luxury Vinyl Flooring Our customer recently moved into a new property and decided to replace the existing carpets with luxury vinyl flooring. He selected Auckland Oak from the Karndean Van Gogh collection which is inspired by the beauty of the natural world. We started by uplifting the existing carpet and underlay and removing from the property. We then set to work preparing the sub floor by laying 2-3mm thick latex screed. This ensures a perfectly flat surface ready to recieve the new Karndean Van Gogh vinyl tiles. One of the most challenging aspects of installing luxury vinyl tiles is achieving clean joins where rooms connect and ensuring a precise fit around architraves. This is where a professionally trained installer proves truly invaluable. While it might appear straightforward, trust us, it’s much more difficult than it seems! Safety Vinyl Flooring for a Local Nursing Home Our client requested non-slip safety vinyl flooring for their local nursing home in Derby. The aging carpet, in place for an extended period, was in need of replacement. AJ Floorcraft got to work by uplifting the old carpet and removing from the premises. Getting prepared We prepared the floor using Instarmac Pro 30 smoothing compound to guarantee a flat and sturdy subfloor, ready for the installation of IVC iSafe 70 wood-effect safety vinyl. The project took around one week to complete and our customer is very happy with the finished results. Showroom New Kitchen Display
New Showroom Kitchen Display The old kitchen in our showroom had been in place for years and was in need of updating. Time for a new Mackintosh Kitchen! Rosie started by designing the new kitchen using CAD software. We knew we wanted a bar area with a drink fridge, island unit with venting hob and double ovens to show off Neff’s incredible appliance range. The old kitchen was sold on a popular second hand goods website (we don’t like to throw anything away). So it was removed carefully and taken apart ready for collection. Then the transformation could really begin First we needed to move the door that leads to the upstairs offices. It was repositioned on the opposite side of the staircase to allow us to fit wall to wall units in that space. Once the door space was boarded over, our team of kitchen fitters installed the new Mackintosh base units, wall units, tall cupboards and shelving. We choose Oblique painted doors in Sea Mist & Botanical Green, Linear Inset door in New England Oak and the carcase in Graphite. Once the Neff Hide & Slide oven, Neff Combi oven, 1810 Axis sink and Moduleo Roots flooring had been fitted, the worktop fitters took over. They installed a Dekton worktop and upstand in colour daze with precision and care. Dekton is a perfect choice for worktops due to the easy maintenance and hardwearing surfaces they provide. Once the worktop was complete we added the Neff venting hob and Henry Holt Collection Twin Lever tap in Gunmetal to complete the look. Wirksworth Junior School
Wirksworth Junior School This is another joint project for AJ floorcraft and AJ Painting and Decorating. Our client asked us to replace the old wood block flooring which was becoming worn in places. The old Granwood floor had already been removed. The floor was prepped with F Ball Stopgap SRS surface primer to stabilise it. Then we applied F Ball Stopgap 1200 Pro screed followed by F Ball F77 damp proof membrane. Next we applied F Ball P141 primer and finished the subfloor with another layer of F Ball Stopgap 1200 pro. This might seem like a lot of layers to a subfloor, but the correct preparation for a project like this is paramount to the finished result. Oak Parquet block flooring was installed using F Ball B95 adhesive. Once the floor was complete, we sanded the whole room using our trusty Bona UX sanding machine. The flooring was primed with a coat of Bona Mix and Fill classic primer and finished with a coat of Bona HD Laquer for a hardwearing finish. These flooring works took around 4 weeks to complete in total and the finish was so good our client decided they needed the walls painting too to complete the transformation! That was the perfect job for AJ Painting and Decorating! To protect the beautiful new flooring, we covered it with specialist floor protection. A substantial amount of preparation work was necessary initially, owing to the presence of cracks and peeling paint in the school hall located within the splendid Grade 2 listed building. We painted the walls and ceiling in White Acrylic Eggshell, which is an excellent choice for durability and ease of cleaning – a must for a busy school hall. The blue band, skirtings and doors were painted in a blue oil based gloss to tie in with the school colours. Do you have a project like this that you need help with? Customer Mackintosh Kitchen This Mackintosh Kitchen installation was a joint project for the whole team at AJ Group Derby! All AJ departments came together to create this beautiful space for our customers and they are delighted with the result. Our customers asked us to remove the wall between the kitchen and the dining room to create a large open plan, sociable living space. The customer asked for a bespoke bench to be made in the utility area for the family to take their shoes off. After gathering all the details about our customers’ dream kitchen, our showroom manager, Rosie, used specialised CAD design software to create the new layout. CAD Drawing CAD Drawing CAD Drawing CAD Drawing This is the stage where our customers witness their vision taking shape, providing us an opportunity to incorporate any desired changes before we kickstart the project. Once the wall was removed between the kitchen and the dining room to create one big space, the Mackintosh kitchen units were installed. Our customer chose classic white carcases with Trend Painted Artic White doors, finished with a Ceasarstone bespoke Quartz worktop in Woodlands. The belfast sink from Rangemaster adds to the simplicity and style of this design. In the kitchen peninsula, we incorporated a Bosch gas hob and a Neff Hide and Slide oven. The dining room side of the unit is adorned with tongue and groove paneling for a stylish finish. A convenient pull-out larder unit separates the integrated tall fridge and tall freezer, providing storage space for cooking essentials. A dresser unit, crafted to resemble a custom-made freestanding piece, perfectly complements the far end of the room, seamlessly tying in with the overall design. AJ Painting and Decorating applied Dulux Vinyl Matt to the walls and ceilings, while the woodwork received a coat of Dulux Oil-Based Gloss. This created a fresh and neutral backdrop, allowing the customer’s beautiful art work to shine. Completing the project, AJ Floorcraft installed Karndean Luxury Vinyl Tiles in Mid Limed Oak, ensuring a durable and low-maintenance floor that will stand the test of time. Caroline’s New Mackintosh Kitchen
Caroline’s Kitchen Our customer Caroline asked us for a modern, stylish but functional kitchen that was suitable for the whole family. Rosie designed a fully integrated kitchen with a built-in fridge, freezer, dishwasher, and pull-out storage units. The kitchen has been finished off with a beautiful bespoke Dekton worktop in Nillium. This has been carried through to the breakfast bar and the cooker splashback. The CAD drawings gave Caroline a chance to see what her new kitchen would look like before buying it. This is crucial step in the design process to make sure everything is how the customer would like it and also gives us a chance to change anything that’s not quite right. All CAD designs come included in the package when you buy a fully installed kitchen from us. This pairs beautifully with the Dekton worktop in Nilium and the floor tiles from BC Ceramics in Eternal Matt. The built in tall fridge and tall freezer, the diswasher, cooker, hob and extractor are all from Neff, a top-tier brand in kitchen appliances. She opted for the highly sought-after Axis sink by The 1810 Company, which has been clad in the worktop, aligning perfectly with the current trends. This sink pairs seamlessly with the Dekton worktop, showcasing excellent functionality. Its effortless maintenance makes it a practical and stylish choice. Caroline sent us a review of her new kitchen and the experience of having it installed by our team: “After looking round at several kitchen places we decided to go with AJ Group to supply and fit our new Kitchen. We travelled to Doncaster to view the Omega showroom as there were so many different options available. AJ Group now has a newly refurbished showroom with kitchens on display for customers to see but they didn’t at the time we were buying. Rosie, the Showroom Manger at AJ Group was amazing, helping me along the way with choices if I was unsure. We eventually chose a Mackintosh, painted oblique handle-less kitchen in the colour sandstone as we loved the simplicity of it. I also love the fact everything is hidden – the fridge/freezer/dishwasher and the best part the bins! The worktop we originally picked was not available so Lizzie also helped me choose a replacement that matched perfectly. We decided to opt for Dekton as it is so durable and has finished the look of the kitchen off perfectly. We chose Neff appliances which AJ Group also supplied for us, we are extremely happy with these and how high tech they all are. The floor tiles were also from AJ Group which we absolutely love. We went for a large marbled tile which we think complements the unit colour and worktop. As you can see from the pictures I’ve sent, our Boxer Stanley also loves it! Any issues we had regarding any missing/incorrect parts were dealt with quickly and efficiently which made the whole journey stress free. Commercial Painting Project for Gemstone The brand new National Gemstone Centre at Carsington will be the home of British jewellery design and manufacturing. AJ Painting and Decorating have been lucky enough to be a part of this amazing project for the past four months. Beautiful view across Carsington Waters The main contractor GF Tomlinson Building Ltd have built a stunning building overlooking the reservoir at the beautiful Carsington Waters in Derbyshire. We were asked to paint the ceiling steels , walls and staircase. Our expert spray painter Ryan sprayed the ceiling steels and staircase rails in Acrylic Eggshell. The walls were painted in Johnstone Durable Matt. All paints were supplied by Dulux Decorator Centre in Derby. We are onto the next phase now and are looking to complete around the end of March. We can’t wait to see the finished result when the centre becomes a location for jewellery design and manufacturing, as well as a jewellery boutique, exhibition space, visitor tours, experiences, and lectures.
