The Client Brief
When Hannah approached us with her vision for a unique children’s play village alongside her cafe in Belper, we knew this was going to be a special project. The concept was simple but powerful: create a space where parents can unwind while their children explore, imagine, and learn through play.
We were delighted to be chosen to help bring this idea to life with the right flooring solutions.
As Hannah describes it: “Doddle & Moos Play Village is designed to give children the freedom to explore, role-play, problem-solve, and build confidence in a fun, nurturing environment. From mini shops and imaginative workspaces to our baby play area, every space has been carefully designed to support learning through creativity and real-world scenarios.”
The Flooring Solution
With existing wood-effect vinyl already in place, our first step was to carefully remove selected sections to make way for bespoke design elements – transforming the space into a vibrant, interactive play village.
We prepared the subfloor using a high quality latex smoothing compound, ensuring a perfectly level and durable base for the new flooring installation.
To bring Hannah’s vision to life, we used a combination of specialist materials:
- Cobbled streets: Created using Moonlight Courtyard Cobbles vinyl flooring from Remland.
- Roadway areas: Installed with Altro Walkway black vinyl, complete with hand painted white lines for an authentiic street finish.
- Grass zones: Formed using Essential Lawns Greece 30mm artificial grass, delivering a realistic, soft, and child friendly surface.
All materials were installed using manufacturer-recommended adhesives to ensure longevity, safety, and performance in this high traffic commercial environment.
The Finished Result
The transformation is truly something special. This imaginative play village is not only visually striking but also practical, safe, and built to withstand everyday use.
Hannah and her team are thrilled with the results – and we couldn’t agree more. It’s fantastic to see such a creative concept come to life, and we’re proud to have contributed to a space that will bring joy to families in Belper for years to come.
