Alan Jones
Managing Director
Alan is so passionate and knowledgeable when it comes to his work that if you spoke to him about flooring you would conclude that it is what he always wanted to do. His passion for providing quality service and flooring led him to establish AJ Floorcraft in the early 1990’s, a business where relationships with customers truly matter and this continues to be the ethos of the company today. After expanding into Painting and Decorating in 2009 and then into Kitchens and Bathrooms in 2019, the company is now known as AJ Group Derby Ltd. Alan still has the same business ethos to this day, a result of which is that much of our business is repeat or comes through recommendation.
Paul Jackson
Director
Paul started with AJ Floorcraft in 1996 when he was just 16 as a trainee estimator. He gained a HND in building studies at college and was quickly promoted to contracts manager. In 2021 he was made a director. Paul is very experienced in handling all projects from small to large but he specialises in the larger flooring projects and as such concentrates mainly on the commercial side of the business.
Robin Watson
Flooring Contracts Manager
Rob started his flooring career when he was 16 as an apprentice floor layer. During his apprenticeship he gained an NVQ Level 2 in impervious floorcovering, textiles and wood flooring. He has been a Flooring Contracts Manager at AJ’s for 6 years and mainly looks after our domestic customers, having expert knowledge in this area. He occasionally still goes out to fit floors just to keep his skills sharp.
Mark Hurst
Director
Mark joined AJ Floorcraft in 2009 and set up the painting and decorating side of the business. He heads up our team of painters and decorators and specialises in overseeing, programming, surveying and delivering our painting and decorating projects.
John O'Hare
Painting & Decorating Contracts Manager
John started with AJ Coatings, as it was then, 14 years ago. His main responsibilities are to organise the painters and decorators to be where they should be and when. He regularly visits the sites to ensure the project is running as it should be. He makes sure we get the best deals for the products we use and that they are of the best quality. If you have employed AJ Group Derby for your commercial painting and decorating project, it’s likely John will be the person you liaise with the most.
Elyissa Davis-Henshaw
Assistant Quantity Surveyor
Elyissa joined AJs in early 2019 as a Trainee Quantity Surveyor and was promoted to Assistant Quantity Surveyor in 2022. Elyissa is working towards a BSc (Hons) Degree in Quantity Surveying from Nottingham Trent University. Elyissa brings fantastic work ethic, commitment, and professionalism to all our projects and clients. She is our in-house expert for all our commercial questions.
Judith Howe
Finance Manager
Jude has thoroughly enjoyed working at AJ’s since 2018. Originally from New Zealand she came over to the UK on a working holiday many years ago and never left. It was never her intention to stay away from her beautiful home country but having met an English gentleman the working holiday extended out to include family, home, and many more trips abroad.
Susannah Deal
Office Administrator
Having started in August 2021, Sue is one of the newest members of AJ Group Derby. When you call AJ Group Derby, hers is the voice you hear first and she’s also the person most likely to deal with your initial enquiry. When she’s not answering the phone and passing on emails, she’s busy behind the scenes making sure everything in the office is running smoothly and that we are compliant with Health & Safety. She also makes a good cup of tea!
Chrissy Ashby
Payroll Assistant
Chrissy has been with AJs for 7 years. She looks after our operative’s payroll Monday to Wednesday and ensures all new starters, holidays and time off is processed as it should be.
Rosie Jarvis
Showroom Manager
Rosie has a degree in interior architecture and design. She started her career with a well-known Kitchen brand company and quickly moved to an independent bespoke Kitchen and Bathroom brand when she realised her love for quality products and design. She started with AJ Group Derby in March 2023 and has quickly got to work creating up to date displays and putting her stamp on the showroom. If you choose a Kitchen or Bathroom from AJ Group Derby, it’s likely that Rosie will be your project manager and will see your project through from design to fitting.
Lizzie Woodward
Showroom Assistant
Lizzie worked for what was at the time Maurice Parker Interiors and has stayed with us through the company merges and changes. She has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to the products we sell and has just started designing bathrooms and kitchens too with the help of Rosie.
Kayla Stocks
Painting and decorating project manager
After working for another well known building company for 20 years, Kayla joined us in June 2023 as our Painting and Decorating Projects Manager. She has 10 years of experience as an Estimator and is now successfully running her own projects as part of the AJ team.
