Alan Jones
Managing Director
Alan is so passionate and knowledgeable when it comes to his work that if you spoke to him about flooring you would conclude that it is what he always wanted to do. His passion for providing quality service and flooring led him to establish AJ Floorcraft in the early 1990’s, a business where relationships with customers truly matter and this continues to be the ethos of the company today. After expanding into Painting and Decorating in 2009 and then into Kitchens and Bathrooms in 2019, the company is now known as AJ Group Derby Ltd. Alan still has the same business ethos to this day, a result of which is that much of our business is repeat or comes through recommendation.

Paul Jackson
Director
Paul started with AJ Floorcraft in 1996 when he was just 16 as a trainee estimator. He gained a HND in building studies at college and was quickly promoted to contracts manager. In 2021 he was made a director. Paul is very experienced in handling all projects from small to large but he specialises in the larger flooring projects and as such concentrates mainly on the commercial side of the business.

Robin Watson
Flooring Contracts Manager
Rob started his flooring career when he was 16 as an apprentice floor layer. During his apprenticeship he gained an NVQ Level 2 in impervious floorcovering, textiles and wood flooring. He has been a Flooring Contracts Manager at AJ’s since 2016 and mainly looks after our domestic customers, having expert knowledge in this area. He occasionally still goes out to fit floors just to keep his skills sharp.

John O'Hare
Painting & Decorating Contracts Manager
John started with AJ Coatings, as it was then, in 2010. His main responsibilities are to organise the painters and decorators to be where they should be and when. He regularly visits the sites to ensure the project is running as it should be. He makes sure we get the best deals for the products we use and that they are of the best quality. If you have employed AJ Group Derby for your commercial painting and decorating project, it’s likely John will be the person you liaise with the most.

Kayla Stocks
Painting and decorating project manager
After working for another well known building company for 20 years, Kayla joined us in June 2023 as our Painting and Decorating Projects Manager. She has 10 years of experience as an Estimator and is now successfully running her own projects as part of the AJ team.

Hannah Davies
Showroom Manager
Hannah recently joined AJ Group Derby Ltd, having completed a degree in Interior Design. Previously, she worked for a well known kitchen company, but has now branched out into bathroom design too. She is passionate about creating environments that reflect both comfort and your own personal style. If you choose to have a kitchen or a bathroom from us, it is likely that Hannah will be the person that welcomes you and brings your project to life. In her own time, Hannah enjoys looking after her indoor plants and is a member of the National Trust.

Sue Deal
Finance Manager
Sue has been with AJ Group Derby since 2021. She joined as an office administrator but has recently been promoted to Finance Manager and is currently taking her level 2 in accounting exams. When you call us, Sue's is the voice you hear giving you the options.

Chrissy Ashby
Payroll Assistant
Chrissy has been with AJs since 2017. She looks after our operative’s payroll Monday to Wednesday and ensures all new starters, subcontractors invoices, holidays and time off is processed as it should be.

Emma Watson
Office Administrator
Emma joined AJ Group Derby in March 2025, after completing a Business Administration apprenticeship. She is the first point of contact for new enquiries and when she's not answering the phone or replying to emails she's busy making sure the office is running smoothly.
